Hurrah for Wednesdays!

I'm back in my normal routine now... working Saturdays but having Wednesdays off, and yesterday (being Wednesday) was a pretty near perfect day off :-)

I had a lovely lazy breakfast of bacon and eggs, then spent the best part of the day making these needle cases.

I updated my folksy shop, my etsy shop AND my ebay shop because my latest felt delivery has arrived and everything is now back in stock.
I popped to the Post Office with a few orders and from there went to the end of the seafront and back (4 miles in all) walking west I wander through the streets of Worthing and look at all the lovely (and not so lovely!) houses and gardens and then on the way back home I go along the seafront. And I have Kings of Leon on my iPod. Like I said...perfect!

My evening was spent constructing mini rainbow sample packs, I even roped John in but he got bored pretty quick!

Hurrah for Wednesdays!

a lovely surprise

today I had a lovely surprise in the post
a thoughtful gift from a friend I have never met, except in blogland of course!
Jojoebi found some iron on felt in her craft cupboard, promptly thought of me and sent it my way, along with a gorgeous ornament and a clever origami cat which is also a letter.
Aren't bloggers the kindest people ever?

It made my heart beat a little faster when I saw my shop in amongst the big guys :-)

filling up

yesterday I took advantage of the sunshine and took lots of photos of finished felt items and today I have taken advantage of the gloomy day by sitting in front of the computer for a few hours, editing photos and updating my website! It's nice when the weather fits in with your plans!
So now for some website plugging ::
there are cupcakes
and more cupcakes!

felt picture badges

A mini tutorial by me.
You will need :: transfer paper, computer & printer, felt, sewing thread & needles, brooch pins.
The instructions inside the transfer paper pack are pretty foolproof so I won't repeat them...I used transfer paper for light coloured t-shirts...I picked a few favourite photos, cropped them square and then ironed onto beige felt.

cut out leaving a border and stitch onto some contrasting felt (I used teal)

trim the teal felt to size and cut round to make a matching piece.

prepare the back of the badge by adding a brooch pin and a label, if you like :-)

stitch the two layers together using blanket stitch
and voila! you've made a felt picture badge!
experiment with shapes and make a whole heap of badges
a fun way to spend a couple of crafting hours :-)

fun with transfer paper

Last night I had a bit of a sort out and found a pack of transfer paper...so today I decided to make some new paper-and-string sew on labels....the idea has been in my mind for a while, and it looks as though I'm in good company too!
I have used felt (of course!) and made super-tiny labels for the backs of brooches and mini softies...I can't wait to sew them on everything!
I also got a little carried away and have made something else with transfer paper, but you'll have to come back tomorrow for a tutorial on that :-)

round & round

I've just finished a special order ::
A customer asked for 50 felt circles that would be iron-on-able, all in different sizes.
I duly got the bondaweb, compass and scissors ready and voila! order complete :-)

days off the day job

Hurrah! I finally have some time off the day job :-)
Yesterday I had a relaxing day, did a little shopping, had drinks in the pub and went home to a lovely dinner.
Today I woke up with more of a spring in my step so went for a walk to a beach front cafe 3 miles away, treated myself to black coffee and toast, then walked back again. It's a glorious sunny day today and it was great fun :-)

Tonight a whole group of us are going out for a posh dinner ... I can't wait!!
In between all these activities I have finished the WIP cupcakes I showed the other day and now have a pile of notebook cover WIPs ...
