perfect timing

The weather here today is AMAZING, I am so lucky that it's my day off the day job!

After my daily trip to the Post Office I went for a walk along the seafront, it was so lovely I decided to have my lunch on the beach, so I nipped home, made a sandwich, grabbed a drink and a book and went to sit near the waves.

Wonderful!

London in the sun

Yesterday I went to watch my brother-in-law running in the London marathon, along with my sister and niece.
We stood at mile 9 trying to spot him...it's so hard to see one face in amongst all the runners, but he spotted us so we managed to wave!
We then walked to mile 11 to try and see him again but there were SO MANY people we couldn't get there fast enough and we missed him!
We queued for the tube and headed for Waterloo and had lunch on the embankment then we stood on the bridge and managed to spot him at mile 25!!
We managed to find him at the end...so many people trying find the person that they knew ... huge crowds, bright bright sunshine and such a lovely atmosphere.
I had a lovely day and would thoroughly recommend a trip to see the runners :-)
This morning I got up super early to finish a special order so I could post it on time, this is the 'made' part of the order ::
and tonight? I'm having a relaxing bath and watching Ashes to Ashes with John.
But I'm sure I'll fit in some stitching too :-)

spring fabrics

These fabrics are going to be curtains for our bathroom. 2 small windows need new curtains. I will make white curtains with a stripe of one of these at the bottom. Or something like that. Or maybe they will sit on my shelf for a while looking pretty. Either way I love them :-)
They are both from here

move over Darwin

So the overwhelming consensus is he ISN'T a Flamingo!
*see previous post if that makes no sense ;-)
and as cute as the little pink duck is .... I wanted a Flamingo!
How about this little fella?
Here you can clearly see the steps in evolution, straight from duck to tall-duck to flamingo!
Have I, or have I not conquered the Flamingo ?
*A great big thank you to greetingarts and her 'make the neck longer' comment...genius! :-)

newness

I've been very disciplined today, doing accounts and paperwork, filling the shops, leaving long awaited feedback *sorry!* doing housework AND I've even been to the Post Office and supermarket already!

Now all of the necessary things are done and out of the way I can concentrate on sewing some more of my new ideas...
...this is a flamingo....john thinks it looks like a duck, but I'm sticking with flamingo!
and this is my new, sweet pussy cat.....hopefully they'll be more cute newness to show tomorrow :-)

inspired

New ideas always come to me when I'm really busy.
This weekend I was surrounded with crafty bits, busy making more owl brooches ::
I made 3 more ::
but ideas were making my head hurt (in a nice way!) so I got out my other tray and started to sketch and chop and sew ::
So far I have finished this little cutie ::
Even her back view is kinda cute ::
Hopefully tonight I'll finish something else new :-)

a new addition

the other day I showed you mr & mrs owl brooches....well, here they are again with baby owl!
I had a funny day today...I spent the morning at home and the afternoon at work (covering because someone wanted the afternoon off) and I had loads to do, but I couldn't really get into much, and decided that making a baby owl should be at the top of my to-do list!!

birthday surprises

It's John's 40th birthday today.
Yesterday I managed to surprise him with a flying lesson on this plane ::
He was very surprised when I told him what he was doing, even more surprised when the pilot told him they would be doing loop-the-loops and flying upside down!!
I organised for friends to come and watch and after the flight we had a buffet lunch, with birthday cupcakes too ::
My sister and niece came too and we had a lovely day, the sun shone as if on cue, and everything went to plan! phew! surprises are hard work but SO worth it :-)

preperations

John's birthday surprise is all organised...today I made cupcakes & cupcake toppers, instead of a cake, but I've had to hide them from prying eyes so I will take photos tomorrow!

I've done quite a bit of sewing the past few days, mostly to take my mind off the stress of organising surprises!! I have never orgainsed a big surprise before and I'm half enjoying it, half hating it! One minute I think 'aaahhhh what if no one comes' the next minute I'm scared if loads of people come they'll not be enough food!! LOL

This afternoon I'm going to sew some more, have a relaxing bath, phone a few people then go for a couple of drinks with JOhn and our friends :-)

sewing words

Some time early last year I first made felt word sets :: happy birthday :: I love you :: and this week I had the urge to make them again. Very satisfying to see them all stacked up in little piles.
I've also been a very busy bee organising surprises for John's 40th birthday. Can't spill the beans though in case he pops by :-)

how did that happen?

Is it just me or is this year whizzing by?
It only seems like 5 minutes ago that I did the March freebie, but already it's time to announce April's freebie!
So lets get to it....

I have made up two piles of supplies with more than enough goodies with which to make a felt cupcake purse...(it seems 4" zips are not that easy to come by which is what inspired this freebie!)
There will be two prizes and each prize contains ::
4 pieces of 12" felt, 2m of grosgrain ribbon, a few buttons and the elusive 4" zip :-)

As always, all you need to do to enter is leave a comment on this post and I will randomly pick two winners on Sunday 5th April 2009. I will post world wide so everyone is welcome to enter :-)
Good Luck!
