John and I went away this weekend for a Swedish themed car show (John is a Saab fanatic!)

On the way home we popped into Hobbycraft and I bought LOTS of polka dot felt...

...especially for all my blog readers who find it hard to get!

It costs 85p at Hobbycraft and I am selling it for 85p too...it's on my website here (scroll down to the bottom) and when it's all gone that's it I'm afraid!

May 2010 Freebie

ooohhh I'm a little late posting this....after work I had a flurry of orders to get packed and posted, then a walk to the polling station to cast my vote followed by a food shop on the way home!

Over the past few days I have re-worked my cupcake design and made it a little smaller and a little plumper...the perfect size for brooches and key rings...

wednesday tour

Today was very unusual because I managed to spend almost all of it in the sewing half of my workshop. I really haven't spent that much time in there recently...most of my workshop time has been spent in the stock room half, picking & packing orders and preparing stock for sale.

I found it quite hard to get started...I had a million and one things I wanted to make so narrowing it down to a manageable amount was hard...so I started by taking photos for this blog so I could clear my head a bit!

the first 2 photos are of my desk and supplies area...I want a little stool with wheels on it next time I go to Ikea!

next to the desk is my overlocker & trusty sewing machine (if I had the stool with wheels I could just scoot along to these!)

then the ironing board...complete with dangling rags which I use when ironing bondaweb...I get the glue everywhere otherwise!

On the other side of the room is my fabric area ::

and by the end of today it looked like this with lots of cutting out all lined up waiting to be sewn

in the farthest corner is this bike

it has just been recovered from the depths of the garage and has been cleaned up and used twice (not bad, it's only been in action since Monday!)

and through the window looking into the stock room?

well that would be a freebie or two sitting on my photo table (it's not the pinboard & drawing pins, that's just there trying to get in on the action)

I can't stop making drawing pin flowers.

I don't think I should enjoy making them because they are so time consuming and I'm sure if I sat down and worked out the cost of them (including a fair hourly rate to pay myself) it would make them amazingly expensive to buy.

Instead I will not do the sums.

I shall make them & sell them because I love them.

catch up

phew I have had a busy few days!

at the day job the Big Boss has left, meaning lots of work to get done before his last day + lots of work to do for the newbie boss too. On top of all the extra work the shop itself was super busy so I was knackered!

John and I took the decision to take yesterday off. We don't often do that, we both work for ourselves (in between the day jobs) so days off normally mean extra time to work on sewing & cars.

So yesterday we drove into the countryside & found a nice pub that did breakfast and (lots of )coffee and sat and chatted and ate and chatted some more, it was raining hard so we couldn't go for a walk or anything but it was very relaxing anyway :-)

In the afternoon we watched some TV (Columbo of course!) John napped, I did a little sewing of flower drawing pins & a notebook, and made some more Thank You cards (I'm not very good at having a day off!) ... we cooked a lovely dinner and all in all it was a fantastic day!

Today? John is busy with cars, and I'm busy with sewing :-)

today is my sister's birthday...Happy Birthday Sisterini :-)

there's no real cake I'm afraid....but how about a felt-y cupcake?

I've got a batch of cupcakes on the tray, waiting to be cut and sewn....

...and a much more hi-tech item has arrived, my new MrSite website, which will be the new home for all my wholesale items...it's all planned and on paper looks great, hopefully it'll start taking shape tomorrow :-)

I'm finished! the last stitches have been stitched....

and the product labels ironed into position

I printed loads of packaging and, whilst watching Columbo, attached all the brooches to it.

it was very satisfying to finish each one off and put it in the 'finished' box!

John took me out for a meal to celebrate, isn't he lovely?
