A temporary new home

hello ma'luvvers 'ere I am down in Dev'n!

It's quite hard to type in Devon-speak!

I am borrowing my Dad's computer and we're on dial-up here so no photos till I get home.
We all (Mum, Dad, Nan and me) went to Modbury today which is the first town in England that is plastic bag free and I now how my very own Modbury bag :-)

Then we went to Bigbury beach and the tide was out so I didn't get to go on the tractor but I did get to sit in the sunshine and have a nice cup of coffee (sunny, but not quite warm yet!) It was very busy, lots of dog walkers and children walkers and surf dudes too!

Then we went to a ginormous garden centre, which had a craft section so I bought some ribbons, just to be polite...well that's my excuse!!

And we've just got back from having a great big meal which was very nice, thanks mum and dad :-)

and tomorrow we are going to Newton Abbot which just so happens to have a hobbycraft shop

Just a quick post before I go :: I was just whipping my way round the world of webshops and adding little 'i am on holiday, can't post your purchases till Thursday' messages when I saw I was in an etsy treasury ::

Just a few days off (again, I know!) and this time I'm driving down to Devon to see my Mum, Dad and Nan.

Poor old John has to stay here and go to work :-(

So today I finished the website (for now, there is still a lot I'd like to do to it!) and tinkered with the etsy and ebay shops, oh and I packed my essentials ::

That's right, all my half finished projects in case I have a few minutes spare :-)Time to do the less essential things now like clothes and toiletries!!

I'm taking my camera with me and I may blog from there, if not i'll catch up when I get home :-)

my new favourite thing

I enjoyed making the felt covers for books yesterday. So much so that I carried on and have finished a few more ...

I haven't yet embellished the front....i'm just enjoying seeing all these little books covered in scrummy colours!!

It's freebie time again.....

Something new today..... felt cover notebooks!

This one is A5 ::

And these two are A6 ::

The books themselves are store-bought and can be found in Whsmiths, Wilkinsons, Woolworths....and other stationery shops so once the books are filled with lists and notes and sketches you can simply buy another book and swap the cover over. I chose lined notebooks because I'm a list-a-holic but you could change them to plain if that's your preference :-)

i'm such a dummy !!!

Oh I have been reeeaaaaallllyyyyy silly !!

Remember last week when I had time off work and made loads of lovely new things?

Well, I duly listed them on etsy and my website BUT (and here comes the dumb bit) I got the prices all mixed up !!

It's only (only! ha!) the iron-on patches that I got wrong....they are supposed to be £5 / $10 each whereas I listed them as £9 / $18 ...... I've tried to figure out how I did it and I think it's because I decided I didn't like it being $10 flat so maybe it should be $9 something and then I seem to have got $9 stuck in my head which turned into £9 / $18 !!!

Do you need a sip of wine yet ???

So, I'm just going to tweak the prices now ...and you know what? this time I'm going to stick with £5 / $10 !!!

At the moment my crafting is still the variety that isn't made of felt!

I am spending a lot of time on the website, which is slowly getting there....

I have no idea how people spend all day every day on these machines...I much prefer talking to people and sewing felt ;-)

gggrrrr... computers drive me mad....

Today I have spent about 5 hours updating my website, what I have done I am very pleased with BUT now the Mr. Site server is vvveeeerrrryyyyy ssssllllloooowwwww and won't even let me log on to continue my re-vamp !!!

So instead I thought I should put the felt away and I managed to squeeze it into my cupboard ::

it looks lovely :: I'll let you know when the site is back .......

behind the scenes crafting

Today (and tomorrow) I plan to re-vamp my website...it's been on my mind for a while. I knew how I had it wasn't what I wanted but couldn't get it sorted in my mind...but now i think I have.

The main problem I have is keeping everything in stock at all times so people can always see what I do but at the moment if all the cupcakes have been sold then visitors won't know that I make them....hopefully my new way of listing will stop that happening!!

So for now I haven't a lot else to report....except that thinking about websites gives me a headache!!

felt everywhere

I returned to work today :: It was a nice busy day with happy, jolly customers and I really enjoyed myself :: of course there were lots of little loose end kind of jobs I had to do and lots of phone calls to sort out queries but all in all it was a joy to be back ::



I left my living room looking like this:

I left both my trays full of WIPs, and I've tidied my felt into a pretty rainbow of colours (it's not actually put away but it looks pretty, and that's all that counts right?)

Just look at the loveliness :: Yesterday's post posed a question :: can my iron on transfers be washed in the machine? I do not know but I am going to make it my mission to find out!

Time off work :: round up

Looking back like this makes me realise how much I've done....all I have to do now is tidy up!!

my fridge

Before I show the picture of my fridge please let me just say that our Fridge (and the entire kitchen. Make that the whole house) is knackered and needs replacing...we're getting there but it's a long slow slog!!

As you can see the front of the fridge is full of magnets (it's the cool wall from Top Gear!!) but what's that on the side???

It's only magnets made by me!!

I'm having so much fun these few days, I had planned for tomorrow a big website shake up BUT I'm going to continue sewing and do it on Sunday! I has a flash of inspiration yesterday which I've been working on, but it isn't done yet, hopefully this time tomorrow I can share it :-)

Deliveries and Tortoises

My felt delivery arrived already! I ordered it yesterday morning and it arrived this morning, how's that for great service? Another delivery arrived from the postman, from my friend Katy

Yay! a Monday at home :-)

I had a few little jobs to do today, which I managed to get done before lunch, including visiting the Post Office, buying some more white card and some Bondaweb (I was on the look out for some fabric too but can you believe that the staff in my local Fabric Shop have never heard of Moda???) oh and phoning through my great big felt order :-)

1,000 felt squares are winging their way here as I type!!

This afternoon I got down to business with the Bondaweb ::

I'm hoping that tomorrow I'll have some finished items to show rather than piles of cut out pieces!!

I've also put together another order for felt, which I shall place tomorrow, I can't believe how much felt you guys get through!! and I thought I was a felt addict ;-)
Today is the first of 5 days off the day job, so expect to see a lot going on around here over the next few days.

Cupcakes and Foil

Lots of thin metal foil that my friend thought I might like so he rescued it from the bin at work (do people actually through things like this away? it's criminal!) I love it but don't know what I will do with it yet!!

* there will be pictures tomorrow, I have a hangover from hell (my fault, I know!) and this morning I was not capable of anything, let alone taking photos! I did manage a very busy day at the shop but now am on the sofa under a blanket waiting for my home-made pizza to cook.
It was a good night out ;-)

I have received quite a few orders over the past week or so and I have bought sensible things like packaging materials and tissue paper and bondaweb, but I also gave in to temptation and bought something I have had my eye on for a little while ::

His name is Martie and he is from Ireland, you can see his friends here I particularly like Gerald too!! After I'd blogged yesterday I spent the evening chopping up felt and have lots of nice piles of cupcake bits to assemble tonight or tomorrow.

I've done a few more color combinations of my new letters, which are now in my shop and can be ordered in any letter and colour combination.

Then, just for fun, I made a little hedgehog.

Tidiness

I fear I have given the wrong impression...it was made obvious by John's BIG laugh at all your (really sweet, thank you) comments about my being tidy and organised. It really is only my felt and fabric that is tidy (well, the whole craft storage area) but the rest of our flat? It's messy! and the mess is mine :-)

I'm off work tomorrow so I'm planning on catching up with a few more errands and I might tidy up ..... or I might just sew all day !!
