freebie day

That's right, freebie days are back :-)
But first, I need to show you what I achieved yesterday....

It was a cupcake day ::

Big fat fluffy cupcakes ::

Flat cupcakes ::

and ...drum roll please.... *new* fabric patterned cupcakes :-)
two photos of these because I love how these turned out !

Each one is made of felt and fabric and hand-stitched together and then decorated with fantastic buttons, I had such fun picking the buttons! (John came home from the garage whilst I was doing this and we were chatting away and at one point I said 'I'm not talking to you I'm talking to my buttons'. Sometimes I worry myself!!)

and now for :: freebie day ::

I wanted to make this freebie a little special to say thank you to my lovely blog readers for sticking with me while I have been a bit sparse in the blogging front, all the lovely comments I receive really do make a difference and keep me going when the going gets tough (ha! now get that song out of your head !) SO judging by flickr, my most viewed pictures are monkeys and cupcakes so freebie day this time round is a monkey and cupcake themed freebie ::

First prize is monkey (and his favourite cupcake) and then two further prizes of a set of 3 flat cupcakes.

All you need do is leave a comment on this post and winners will be picked on Sunday.

And once the freebie is complete I can tell you all about the gorgeous new felt colours I am going to order later, I would do it now but I have to go to work!

excuse me but where has today gone?

I can't believe how late in the day it is!

I have had a very productive day but it's too dark now to take photos - how annoying !!

So in the morning before I go to work I will be snapping away with the camera to show you all what I did today.

Oh, and to post about the freebie day too :-)

Have a nice evening xxx

you might need your sunglasses for this one...

Lots of bright colours in this picture-heavy post. You have been warned!!

I sat and did some hand embroidery yesterday on these flowers, which are for an order. Just a sneak peek really until their new owner has seen them!!

I was on a bit of a flower theme after making those so I dug deep into my cut-but-not-done-anything-with-basket and found some cut out flowers and added some fabric scraps and brads and I will use them as decorations on packages I send out.

Obviously it's very important to display packaging products in your own home (!!) so here they are in a pretty glass jar...

John was at his garage until quite late so after finishing the flowers I sat and chopped felt and had a whale of a time

All that fun turned into two trays of cupcakes which are now waiting to be sewn.

This morning my progress has been somewhat halted in it's tracks by the postman. First of all I opened thisso I had to sit (with a coffee) and look in detail at every single page. And because I'm nice here are the most important pages for you to look at too: ta-DA :: The Fabric Pages

My favourite is the scallop 70's ish one (£4.59 a metre) but you know once you're stood in the fabric part of the shop you may as well have a bit of all of it!! (a bit sounds quite small doesn't it? maybe I mean a bolt!)

Last time I was at Ikea shopping for fabric John had gone for a sit own on the rug display (no stamina) and I was brandishing the scissors so well another customer asked me to work out how much fabric she needed for her curtains!! I wasn't even wearing yellow!!

Not really a whole page dedicated to fabric but WOW i love green :-) Sometimes Ikea have lovely fabric duvet covers but don't sell it by the metre...I've often chopped an Ikea duvet cover into new things, and that green one looks tempting...

Remember my cheek-less reindeer? Well, the race for supplies is over. This morning the postman also bought me a little package from
Happy Scrapper in Dorset. (Did you really expect to only see 1 pack of pink-cheek brads!)

Half an hour later the parcel postman knocked on the door (rudely interrupting the Ikea catalogue looking) and my parcel from America arrived too :-)

1000 mini black brads and 4 packs of Reindeer cheeks.

The workmen have not yet returned (yippee) there are two gaping holes in the road but no one doing anything. Here's hoping they come back on Thursday when I am at work!

See you later xxx

another little holiday

That's right, I have another couple of days off :-)

Don't feel too jealous though : remember I did work 6 days a week for around 10 weeks....

Yesterday I had a reindeer day

100 were ordered and 84 are finished

the last 16 are cheek-less
*gasp*
that sounds like reindeer cruelty !!

Every other reindeer part is in place though and as I type (hopefully) there are cheeks winging there way to me!! Some were ordered from America and some from down the road in Dorset...I wonder which will arrive first...

This morning I had a little lie in and woke up at 8.30, luxurious!

Annoyingly there is some gas mains work going on in our street. It started today

RIGHT. OUTSIDE. MY. SEWING. WINDOW.

The armchair I sit in to hand sew is right in our big bay window so I have natural light for as long as possible. Unfortunately this picture was taken from my armchair and that man has a very VERY loud drill. But it's not too bad because they seem to work for 10 minutes and then stop for an hour!

He hasn't curbed my crafting though and this morning I have cut some lovely colours which are a little bit more summery than reindeer!

They are going to be flowers for another order I received that will eventually be winging it's way to New York. Isn't it amazing that I sit in my little blue armchair and someone hundreds and millions of miles away likes the look of what I do and can so easily ask for some? I LOVE the interweb and the world of blogs, it's amazing isn't it?

Hopefully the next few days will see some new ideas being turned into reality, and of course the resurrection of freebie day, this Thursday. I have to say it's good to be getting back to normal round these parts, who knows, I may even be able to update my neglected little shops sometime soon!! Enjoy your Mondays :-)

moo !!

The last of the big order is almost nearly finished

That pile is 53 reindeeronly another 47 to go!!But it's fun making them, they are rather cute !! Every face comes out slightly different, even though I try to make them the same! This morning the postman bought me a little something...I know, I know, everyone got moo'd ages ago BUT better late then never right? Just look at them all....I've popped all my details on the back because I will slip one in with orders I send out, like little mini business cards!I'm tempted to get the stickers too but I want to take some new photos first. I think I have become a little bit addicted to flickr, I have joined loads of groups and just love looking around.

I had a computer free weekend this weekend, Sunday was a sewing day but on Monday John and I went out for breakfast, did a little bit of shopping, a lot of housework and then, you guessed it, some more sewing!!

Today has been a good day, I've packaged up a lot of orders, been to the bank and paid all the bills (boring I know) visited the post office and booked a craft fair for November. If you're anywhere near Worthing Pier on 17th or 18th November pop in and say hi :-)

I've also taken a BIG step website wise and placed a provisional order with a new supplier. I don't want to say too much until it's all sorted BUT *cram-cream-deco-tape* sssshhhhh I didn't say anything!!

Reindeers are calling, see you all soon xxx

Day Off :: number one :: Sunday ::

FOUR whole days off in a row, that's a lot of time to dedicate to crafting!
I'm still wading through my email in box-slowly but surely- so if you are waiting to hear from me I'm sorry, I'm going as fast as I can!

I posted the little pack of goodies for Let's Make Cards magazine, I couldn't decide how many or what colours to make so I made a few and will let them choose!

I made a super quick card with pieces I had to hand and wrapped everything up with my new packing materials

I bought the ribbon a while back on ebay but it is too scratchy for sewing onto my things so I have decided to use it as packaging ribbon, along with the new coloured tissue paper I gotSo colourful!

I'll be back tomorrow with MONKEYS!!!

progress check :: 5

I'm happy with my progress so far, but isn't it always the way that when you are busy more and more things come your way?

The Christmas Decorations all now have faces and have joined the pile of finished goodies!
The items on the tray have been replaced with an 'emergency order'...

Let's Make Cards Magazine contacted me and asked for some cupcakes for a photo shoot for their next issue...should I have said 'no I am too busy'??????

Well, I said yes and as a result have Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday off work next week to get on with the crafting .......
